This paper discussed the effect of alloying elements on thehigh-temperature oxidation behavior of Ti-Si eutectic alloys. The Ti-Sieutectic alloys with various Al/Nb content was firstly fabricated througha vacuum nonconsumable arc melting method. Then, the alloy sampleswere put in high-temperature furnace for oxidation experiment. The massgain curve corresponding to different temperatures was obtained. Thehigh-temperature oxidation behavior of Ti-Si eutectic alloys wasinvestigated using XRD and SEM.The experimental results show that there are positive effects on theTi-Si eutectic alloy high-temperature oxidation resistance with alloyingelements. On the basis of analysis methods of XRD, SEM, the addition ofAl or Nb alloying elements into the Ti-Si eutectic alloy does not result inthe formation of new phase. Based on the XRD and microstructuralanalysis results of the oxides scales formed at different temperatures, it isconfirmed that the addition of A1 or Nb elements can greatly improve the high-temperature oxidation resistance of the Ti-Si eutectic alloy. It canenhance the oxidation temperature, prolong the high-temperatureoxidation resistant time, and significantly improve the high-temperatureoxidation resistance property. However, only appropriate addition of Alor Nb alloying elements can effectively improves the oxidation resistanceof the Ti-Si eutectic alloys. Excessive addition of A1 or Nb may lead tothe decrease of oxidation resistance, on the contrary. Concerning study ofTi-Si eutectic alloy high-temperature oxidation property should concernfrom full orientation.
