The vegetation of forest is not only one of the most main type of terrestrial ecosystem, but also is the main constituent of humanity's livelihood environment and resources, it reflects the degree of economical development in an area or a country directly. Observing the rule of succession is regarded as the most effective method to restore and reconstruct the vegetation of the degenerated forest ecosystem. This article takes the natural restoration of degenerated forest ecosystem as the object of study in Foochow region, and divides the different types of degenerated forest ecosystem in Foochow region into the different succession stages, and analyzes the change of community dominance,community species composition,community structure and tendency,niche,community spatial distribution pattern, and so on. The result indicated: (1) Dominance of heliophilous plants population gradually weaken and Dominance of shade plant gradually strengthen along with succession. (2) The quantity of the trees increase obviously, specially Dicotyls is the most obvious; heliophilous plant population gradually vanish and shade plant population gradually strengthen. (3) The diversity index ofα,meeting rate of different plant species and the community evenness increases gradually , ecological dominance descends gradually, the diversity index ofβweaken gradually, the similarity of community species constitution gradually strengthen in the tree species. The change of index is not obvious in shrub,liana and outside level plant species. (4) The community tendency of Pinus massoniana and Castanopsis carlesii in dicated: The community of Pinus massoniana weaken gradually and vanish at last, The community of Castanopsis carlesii gradually stable. (5) The niche breadth of heliophilous plant like Pinus massoniana gradually minish and vanish finally, but that of shade plant strengthen gradually, particularly Castanopsis carlesii ; The tree species with more niche width would take more chance to overlap with other specieswhich would has less chance, contrarily;the niche comparability and the niche overlap has the relation of positive significance.(6) The aggregate of heliophilous plant weaken gradually,whereas shade plant strengthen gradually, the community of Pinus massoniana distribute evenly at the initial succession, and contagious distribution at intermediate stage, and distributs random later; the community of Castanopsis carlesii is contagious distribution at intermediate stage, and the stable community distribute random later.In conclusion, this article discussed restoration procedure of vegetation in degenerated forest ecosystem in Foochow region.lt not only needed the nature, but also needed auxiliary by the suitable jamming, and proposed several suggestion on the acceleration of succession, simultaneously provides the theory and the technical support for vegetation restoration of degenerated forest ecosystem in Foochow region.
