Arc-line detection technology as a non-contact detection technology has been more attention by the world. In abroad, there are a lot of research has already been made on such technologies, in some developed countries ,some products used this technology has already came true, In our country, though many research have been done on this field ,there have no finished products based on this technology has came true.This paper was completed base on the result of many researches on the arc detecting which has been done in abroad and in our country, and it also made some researches on the methods to detect whether the pantograph loss from the contact line. This paper also analyzed the reason that the arc came into being, and analyzed the factors which can affect the arc's condition. This paper also put forward a new method which was fit for our country to detect whether the pantograph contact lose from the contact line. At the same time, this paper also design a new system use this method, and have made some experiments.In this paper, the author analyzed how the various factors to affect the arc, the author also have deduced part of the formula about gaseous discharge. The author also has designed the hardware and the software of this system, and has done some experiments, completed the work to debug the hardware and the software of this system. The author also has analyzed the results of those experiments, and gave some suggestions to improve this system; it was good for the system to be more perfect.At the end of this paper, the author also looked forward to the development trend of arc-line testing. And point out the more work that must be down to complete this system.
