Based on the detailed analysis of geology and hydro-geologic feature of interest area, and from the point of aquifer, 3D geologic architecture model is further simplified and then the 3D hydro-geologic architecture model of interest area is constructed. On the basis of the above study, hydro-geologic conceptual model is developed by using the method of conceptual model, which involves the description of equilibrium elements, distribution of flow and parameters of study area. By using FEFLOW, which is based on Finite element method, the groundwater simulation model is developed, and the solution of the equation for quasi-three-dimension groundwater flow has been got. On the basis of the groundwater flow models, the groundwater quality models were proposed in this paper. The finite difference method was applied to simulate the movement of contaminant in the shallow groundwater. The main research results are summarized as following:The research area consisted of a single phreatic aquifer was simplified as a phreatic aquifer. On the foundation of reference researches, the original values of hydrogeological parameter of each subregion were calculated respectively and boundary condition were identified. The groundwater flow model in research area was presented in this paper. The groundwater flow model into which the initial values of hydrogeological parameters were inputted was calibrated according to the comparison between the calculated valued and the observed values of groundwater hydraulic heads in 2002, and through much trialing the hydrogeological parameters such hydraulic conductivity and storage coefficient were calibrated. At last the groundwater flow model was tested by means of the observed data of groundwater level in 2003.The mathematical model of contaminant transportation in groundwater was proposed in this paper. The chlorine ion was used as simulated ion, and using the FEFLOW software to simulate the way of the contaminant movement in groundwater to get the diffusive degree. By comparison between the compute data and observed data this model was modified. The results of numerical simulation show that the calculated values are in good agreement with the observed data, the simplified assumptions are practical.
