Based on the 48-year correlative dataset of 1958~2005 by NCEP/NCAR. according to thestandard of the vertical shear of zonal wind of low stratosphere the quasi-biennial oscillation(QBO) characteristic of strarosphere and its relation with the tropaspheric general circulation areanalysed. Results show that:While the zonal wind QBO is in the phase of west shear phase within lower tropicalstratosphere, the stronger summer monsoon and the weaker winter monsoon are corresponded; Inthe phase of west shear phase, the weaker summer monsoon and the stronger winter monsoon arecorresponded.During the westerly (easterly) shear phase in equatorial lower stratosphere, the anomalydistributions of 925hPa and 200hPa zonal wind in trade wind region are similar to that in El Nino(La Nina) episode. And when filtering ENSO quasi-biennial component. the relationship betweenQBO and ENSO is better expressed, during the westerly (easterly) shear phase in equatoriallower stratosphere, the quasi- biennial components of SOLSLPA and SSTA have a goodcorresponding connection with that in El Nino (La Nina)priond.During the summer westerly shear phase in equatorial lower stratosphere, there are positiveanomaly distributions and lifting movements in equatorial of 30hPa geopotential height anomalyand temperature anomaly fileds; there are negative anomaly distributions and sink movements intropical deep convection area of 100hPa geopotentiaI height anomaly and temperature anomalyfileds. It's contrary in the eastertv shear phase. During the winter westerly shear phase inequatorial lower stratosphere, it's similar with in summer of 30hPa geopotential height anomalyand temperature anomaly distributions, with positive anomaly distributions and liftingmovements: there are the bigger positive anomaly and lifting movements in equatorial middleand eastern Pacific of 100hPa geopotential height anomaly and temperature anomaly fileds. It'scontrary in the easterly shear phase.
