The thesis comes from the scientific research project of "The storm and lighting characteristic research of The Tibet and Qin altiplano and the nearby region" of cold and arid regions environmental and engineering research institute, Chinese academy of sciences.In order to develop the balloon carried videosonde system, this paper designed the whole realizable scheme of the system, and proposed the tracking method which makes the amplitude- comparison direction finding as the priority and the manual tracking as assistant. At the same time, the paper design and introduce the every modules of the system, and all of the modules were carried out to be. The modules include image sensor, image wireless propagation, particle charge detection, the GPS signal reception and display, transmitting and receiving antennas, tracking antenna platform controlling section, signal mark receiver circuit, the MCU of tracking, and so on. The paper pay more emphases on discussing the principle and design of the following four parts: image sensor module, particle charge detection module, the GPS signal reception and display module and transmitting and receiving antenna design.This system was carried through the field test in the observation station of Pingliang during the Jul to Aug 2006. Unfortunately, we did not obtain the data, because of the bad whether. We released the balloon twice, but all failed to enter the storm. We only get the data of the ground drops by the ground equipment we set.At the end of the paper the author summarized the whole paper, and put forward a few advice for further research.
