Model test is one of the most important methods in studying the formation of landslide. It is also a hot issue involved in the research of geology. However, many restrictive conditions are involved as for the experimental materials of landslide model tests. The tapes of optional materials are just a few, the bound is narrow in choosing the similar materials, and it is inevitable that sometimes facts may deviate from theories in tests. All of these may lead to distortions of models and reduce the accuracy of results, which in turn may limit the development and promotion of model tests.Basing on the similarity theory in landslide model tests, the thesis successfully deduces the similarity of seventeen common parameters in one landslide model test after the systemic study of similar phenomenon and methods in tests. Meanwhile, the distorted and compensated method , which includes the pre-compensating and post- amending method in landslide model test, are put forward because the main parameters in physics between model materials and the prototype have no may to completely fulfill the similarity theory. The thesis also analyses the relationship between the numerical method and model tests, and establishes the theoretical system of applying the distorted and compensated method in landslide model testsAfterwards, the thesis takes adjusting the seepage coefficient of the landslide model test for example, explores the process of applying the pre-compensating method in model distortion , and gives a new thought to do landslide model test with the similarity materials. Moreover, it also verifies the feasibility and rationality of applying the distorted and compensated method in landslide model test according to the fruits obtained by others.Though the pre-compensating method weakens the bad effect of the model distortions to some extent, it is still difficult to adjust some main factors to the reality because of the making method of the model. So, to avoid the existing of the distortions is almost impossible. In order to lower the bad effect once more, we deduce the geometric scales in amending models by taking the post- amending method and sets up the amending and calculating model. And it proves the rationality of the post- amending method in distorted models, for the result of the model test which is corrected according to the analysis of the data in distorted and compensated method has a somewhat perfect consistency to the result calculated by DDA.
