Holography is an important branch of information optics and it has been applied widely i n o ptical m easurement, m icro-optics a nd s tereoscopic d isplay. Combining the principle of optical holography with computer technology, the Computer Generated Holography(CGH) has broadened the application area of holography and it has been the hotspot of the domestic and oversea study on holography. The real-time and stereoscopic display of digital hologram is a focus which is attended to strongly. MIT media laboratory has made some progress in this area with Acousto-Optic Modulation and some simple images have been reconstructed in real time, but it's facility is complex and expensive.Aiming at the real-time and dynamic display of digital hologram with large viewing angle, this dissertation analyzed correlated theoretical problems and proposed time-sharing reconstruction technology based on the limitation in technological factors such as spatial resolution and response time of present Liquid Crystal Spatial Light Modulator. Furthermore we utilized reshaped Rear Projection Optic Engine System to obtain the expected result by means of jointing three SLMs together in the space. This dissertation consists of three parts (six chapters). In the first part (chapter 1), the stereoscopic technologies were reviewed to introduce the problems which were to be discussed and resolved in this dissertation. The second part includes chapter 2 and chapter 3. In the second part, the basic theory of holography especially the computer generated holography and the property of Liquid Crystal Spatial Light Modulator were analyzed systematically so as to supply some supports of the theoretic basic and device technology for the implementation of real-time display of digital holograms. The third part includes chapter 4, chapter 5 and chapter 6. In this part the theory of real-time and dynamic display of digital holograms with large viewing angle with time-sharing reconstruction p rinciple w ere analyzed. We d esigned h ardware s ystem and controlling program for experiments. The experimental results were obtained and the results were also discussed objectively. At the last, some suggestions and measures for improving the system were proposed.
