The shallow spherical shell is widely applied in engineering, which is always under complicated loads. The research on the mechanical properties of shallow spherical shell is paid more and more attention. Because of the difficulty of solving nonlinear mathematical problems, there is few research on bending and buckling of viscoelastic shallow spherical shell. The bending and buckling of symmetrically viscoelastic shallow spherical shell is studied in this paper, some valuable references are provided for the application of viscoelastic s-hallow spherical shell in engineering.First, the major work that both domestic and foreign scholars have done on bending and buckling of plates and shells, especially shallow spherical shells is reviewed. The range of research and the methods of research are analyze-d. Then, applying elastic and viscoelastic correspodence principle based on nonlinear material, the analytic solutions of internal force and deflection have been obtained. Applying the method of integral transform, the governing equation of viscoelastic shallow spherical shell under actions of uniform pressure in the space of Laplace is established. Finally, the governing equation is solved. The analytical expression of critical load is obtained. And besides, we have analyzed the effect of parameters on these analytical expressions in numerical examples.
