Objective:We measured the TH-immunopositive (TH+) cells in substantia nigra pars comp(SNc) by immunocytochemisty and recorded auditory sensory gating (SG) of substantia, in order to know the relationship between auditory SG and TH+ cells and demonstrate the neuroprotective effects of estrogen. Methods: The 150 adult Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into nine groups; 1. female intact group (F-INT group); 2.ovariectomy control group (OVX group) 3.ovariectomy + estrogen replacement group (OVX-E2 group); 4. ovariectomy + 6-hydroxydopamine Parkinson's disease model group (OVX-PD group); 5. ovariectomy + estrogen replacement + 6-hydroxydopamine Parkinson's disease model group (OVX-E2-PD group); 6.female 6-hydroxydopamine Parkinson's disease model group (F-PD group); 7. male intact group (M-INT group); 8. castration control model group (CAST group); 9. male 6-hydroxydopamine Parkinson's disease model group(M-PD group). Auditory SG of substantia nigra were recorded in different situations by means of stimulation model of conditioning and testing, and then, we measured the TH+ cells of substantia nigra . Result: 1. There are difference of auditory SG and TH+ cells between M-INT and F-INT. The auditory SG and TH+ cells in SNc of OVX are different from F-INT, on the contrary, OVX-E2 has no differentiation with F-INT, as well as ,no difference of auditory SG and TH+ cells were found between M-INT and CAST 2. Between auditory SG and TH+ cells, there was statistically significant difference between OVX-PD and OVX-E2-PD, F-PD, as well as, the difference is also founded between F-PD and F-INT,M-PD and M-INT. On the other hand, there is no difference between OVX-E2-PD and F-PD. 3.The morbidity ratio of M-PD is higher than F-PD. IN the 14th day, OVX-PD group has higher morbidity ratio than OVX-E2-PD and F-PD, but we also find that there is no difference of the morbidity ratio between OVX-E2-PD...
