In this paper, the characteristics of composition of suspended particles and influencing factors of distribution were studied in Jiaozhou Bay during August of 2005. And it is used by the method of lab experiments to simulate the field situation in order to study the characteristics of inorganic N and P adsorption to suspended particulate matter and the influencing factors. The main results are listed as follows:The concentration of suspended particles in summer decreased gradually from the north of the bay to the outside the bay, in local area, the content of suspended particles alongshore was higher. Particles between 2 to 5μm are the main part in the total suspended particles, particle numbers of smaller than 1μm ,1μm to 2μm, and bigger than 5μm reduce gradually. The proportion of organic and live particles was larger, most of them were particles smaller than 1μm; the distribution of organic and live particles have remarkable positive correlations to temperature,pH and temperature, the concentration of PO4-P respectively. In summer, heterotrophic bacterioplankton played vital role in the adsorption of inorganic phosphate and ammonium, inorganic nitrate was mainly adsorbed by larger plankton. Phosphate can greatly promote the growth of heterotrophic bacterioplankton, then is ammonium, while nitrate not only can not promote the growth, but also limit it. The results showed that P maybe the main limiting factors to the growth of heterotrophic bacterioplankton. The existences of protist and phytoplankton were helpful for heterotrophic bacterioplankton to absorb and make use of inorganic nutrients. In the experiment of superficial sediment as suspended particulate matter(SPM), the process of sorption of both PO4-P and NH4-N on SPM mainly occurred within 6 and 2 hours, respectively, and then reached a dynamic equilibrium; the sorption of...
