Phase relations in the Nd-Fe-Sb ternary system at 773K have been investigated in this work. Moreover, the crystal structures of FeDy6Sb2 and NdFeSb3 have also been studied. The main contents were related as follows:1. The isothermal section of Nd-Fe-Sb ternary system at 773KPhase relations in the Nd-Fe-Sb ternary system at 773K have been investigated by means of powder X-ray diffraction technique, diffirrential thermal analysis. Nine binary compounds have been confirmed through our study: A(Nd2Fe17), B(Nd5Fe17). C(Nd2Sb) D(Nd5Sb3,) E(Nd4Sb3) F(NdSb), G(NdSb2) H(FeSb2) , I(FeSb); Three ternary compound J(Nd6Fe13Sb), K(NdFe1-xSb2) and L(NdFe4Sb12) were confirmed. At the meantime, we found the FeSb had a solid soluble region. The solid solubility of of Fe in FeSb which was determined by the varying of lattice parameters is about 2.3 at.%. Two new ternary compounds M(NdFeSb3) N (-NdFe2.5Sb2) were found. According to the results of experiment, we constructed the phase diagram of Nd-Fe-Sb ternary system at 773K. It consists of 17 single-phase regions, 36 two-phase regions and 20 three-phase regions.
