STM/AFM Software System Design

This article talks about the whole software system design of Scanning Tunnel Microscope (STM) and Atom Force Microscope (AFM), including real-time data gathering system, image processing & 3D surface reconstruction system and scanning tunnel spectrum (STS) data processing system.The author gives out particular studies on many crucial technical points based on his practical programming and academic researches. For the hardware system, here lists many important and meaningful improvement to the former controlling program. Talks about the new timing control function, the multi-thread arrangement for higher stability, the under-level IO action compatibility and some UI bug fixing of old system. For the image processing, here talks about some most used process methods such as template, FFT filter and what's more important, talks about their special effect on STM/AFM images with proper parameters, by the way, Several contradistinctive testes has been applied before and after these process. About the 3D reconstruction, here talks about the optical normal computing algorithm, the special lighting adjust, the creation of triangle meshes of regular scattered points, and the 3D data compressing, etc. About the STS, talks about the image identification, sampling and fitting process of curve line, the derivative line computing of curves with scattered points and values.The researches of concerning systems started in 2003. After 2 years debugging and improvement, it is now working stably as the main system of its related STM/AFM machines。The controlling system can apply much more stably run-time performance than the former programs, with more parameters adjustable; The image processing and 3D reconstruction system can totally replace the those commercial programs, such as PhotoShop and Matlab, which were being used as only acquirable tools. The STS system has given out a good well performance in the associating project of STS analyze with Sichuan University.The whole system has been used in many project of measuring, given out many important and considerable results, supported several their researches and analyzes well finished. It has been proved having good market and good repute.
