Nuclear triaxiality is described by introducing higher-order interactions in SU(3)-O(6) — SU(3) transitional region within the Interacting Boson Model. The relation between the model Hamiltonian and the former triaxial rotor model, triaxial deformation and quantum phase transition behaviors in the SU(3) - 0(6) - SU(3) transitional region are studied in detail. Moreover, some Os isotopes are fitted by the theory and compared with the corresponding experimental data. Finally, we come to the conclusion that the IBM Hamiltonian including a three-body term introduced can be used to describe triaxial nuclei quite well.
