Analysis Of Diffuse Route Of The Zhujiang River Diluted Water

Based on the temperature and salinity data of the northern shelf in South China Sea (SCS) collected by South China Sea Branch of S.O.A., the paper analyzes the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of salinity and density near the Zhujiang Estuary, and outlines the diffusing routes of the Zhujiang River diluted water. Combined with the wind field data, the average sea level data and the runoff of Zhujiang River, it analyzes and discusses the diffusing routes of the Zhujiang River diluted Water.Firstly, the temperature and salinity grid (1° × 1°) was created based on marine investigation during 1978—1988. According to these data, following characters of the diffusing route of the Zhujiang River diluted water were obtained:1. In spring, the Zhujiang River diluted water locates mainly between the coastal and 40 meters isobath, and diffuses to west, with reason, that, during the spring the Zhujiang River is in its low water season and the northeast monsoon is still intense.2. In summer, affected by southwest monsoon, one part of the Zhujiang River outflow from Linding Island and Medaomen diffuse to east, another part of the Zhujiang River outflow from Jitimen Hutiaomen Yamen diffuses to west. The part westwards accounts for 1/3 of the Zhujiang River's total runoff. Despite the range of the westwards part is decreased, the western part is still very strong because the total runoff of the Zhujiang River is more greater than winter's.3. In autumn, with the monthly decreased total runoff of the Zhujiang River, the Zhujiang River diluted water moves back to coastal, and locates mainly in the band not larger than 50 nautical miles in the western part of the Zhujiang Estuary,.4. In winter, affected by strong northeast monsoon and China coastal current, the Zhujiang River diluted water diffuses to west very strong. Obviously, it is not accord with fact that the Zhujiang River diluted water spread to north in summer, and spread to west in winter.Based on the analyse of the wind field data, the average sea level data, the runoff data of Zhujiang River and precipitation in land, the paper discusses the factors affecting the diffusing route of the Zhujiang River diluted water.In spring autumn and winter, the runoff diffusing direction is same with monsoon direction, so it is believe that monsoon is the main reason of the diffusing route in these three seasons.
