Antibacterial peptides can be found widely in the nature. For their wide spectrum activity against bacterial, fungi and cancer cells, scientists are interested in their potential advantages in medicine and agriculture. The present paper introduced some results of antibacterial peptide gene synthesis and plant expression vector construction, which could be the base for future sugarcane genetic transformation:1 An antibacterial peptide gene was amplified by PCR with two primers, which covered the whole gene and annealed to each other. However the gene could not be used in the future work for the sequencing revealed that the PCR product had some flaws such as base-missing, base-reverse, base-mutation and base-inserting;2 Ubi promoter, which had showed high efficiency in monocotyledon genetic engineering, was ligated into plasmid pUC19 for sequencing. The result showed that this promoter is a homolog of that reported in the GenBank.
