The ectoparasitic garnasid mites of bats distribute very widely, currently comprise 2 families, 8 genera, 43 previously described species in China. It is the first preliminary study covering morphology, taxonomy and biogeography cladistics on the ectoparasitic gamasid mites of bats in China. The present paper discussed morphological characters in detail to be useful for taxonomic study of the group. 14 species of the ectoparasitic gamasid mites of bats are described. They belong to two families (Macronyssidae and Spinturnicidae), five genera (Macronyssus, Steatonyssus, Ichoronyssus, Spinturnix, Paraperiglischrus), of which 9 species are newly to science: M. zhenningensis sp. nov. M. wuyiensis sp. nov. M. tylonycteris sp. nov. M. leishanensis sp. nov. M. paurchaetus sp. nov. M. stylus sp. nov. M. longzhouensis sp. nov. Ichoronyssus cryptcterius sp. nov. Steatonyssus hainanensis sp. nov. The deutonymph of M. laifengensis is first described, the paper includeThe primary distinguishable characters as follows: in M. zhenningensis sp. nov., with dorsal plate setae 26 pairs, epigynial plate with weakly sclertized extension of tip bearing 7 setaes; in M. wuyiensis sp. nov., with dorsal plate setae 21 pairs, Vl3 lie at the margin of the epigynial plate and the posterior of the plate with 1 seta; in M. tylonycteris sp. nov., with dorsal plate setae 27 pairs, sternal glands fabaceous, bearing granulated stripe; in M. leishanensis sp. nov., sternal glands lobed and well developed, posterior of genito-ventral plate with scalelike veins; in M. paurchaetus sp. nov., dorsal plate setae only 18 pairs, deutosternal groove with 14 teeth; in M. stylus sp. nov., dorsal plate with 24 setae pairs, sternal glands well developed and wirelike veins; in M. longzhouensis sp. nov., sternal glands ovate with granular veins, deutosternal groove with 9 teeth arranged in single file; in I. cryptcterius sp. nov., sternal glands unconspicuous, epigynial plate with weakly sclertized extension of tip bearing 3 setae; in S. hainanensis sp. nov., podonotal plate with 12 pairs of setae, opisthonotal plate with 10 pairs of setae.Based on the distribution information of 10 genera, the faunal characteristics are analyzed of the family Spinturnicidae. The results showed that the Oriental and Palearctic-Oriental-Ethiopian genera were the most principle with proportion of 60%. The Oriental and Oriental included genera were 8 genera with proportion of 80%, thus...
