This paper, which was the part of the project of National Natural Science Foundation of China "Method and Research of the Watershed Flood-forecast Model based on Numerical Simulation of Rainstorm" (Program No: 50379040), made research on VIC (Variable Infiltration Capacity) land surface hydrological model, and coupled with WXGEN weather generator, VIC model was applied to Bailian river basin in Hubei province.Based on VIC (Variable Infiltration Capacity) large-scale land surface hydrological model and the geographical information and hydrologic data including vegetation type, land-use, and soil type, etc, VIC land surface hydrological model of Bailian river basin coupled with the self-developed routing generation model, was established. The parameters of VIC model were optimized and the streamflow of Bailian river basin was simulated respectively, therefore, the rationality and applicability of VIC model was tested. Furthermore, the WXGEN weather generator was integrated with VIC model, and based on the meteorological data which was generated from WXGEN weather generator, this coupled model get succeed in the random simulation of streamflow of Luolinghe station, Yingshan station and inflow of Bailian river basin.The main works and conclusions were summarized as follows:(l)Chapter 1 not only summarized the development and application of Distributed Hydrological Model and Land Surface Process Model, but also pointed out the mainly unresolved problems.(2)The application of GIS technology to hydrologic model was introduced in chapter 2, which firstly gave a presentation to Arc View GIS, especially to AvSwat part. Bailian river basin was subdivided into several sub basins, at the same time, the corresponding GIS data was processed.(3)WXGEN weather generator was the key research content in chapter 3, which firstly summarized the research and application of weather generator; and then introduced the principles of WXGEN weather generator. Finally, a case study by the suggested model was successfully presented on Bailian river basin.(4)The theories and methods of VIC land surface hydrological model were the key content in chapter 4, which introduced the development and mechanism of VIC land surface processes model which was based on the hydrological mechanism.(5)Chapter 5 presented VIC land surface hydrological model of Bailian river basin. The preparation for data, numerical simulation, run-steps, routing generation model, aswell as the integration of WXGEN weather generator and VIC model of Bailian river basin were introduced detail by detail.(6)Chapter 6 consisted of conclusions and suggestions. On the one hand, the main contents and innovations of the whole study were reviewed; on the other hand, the unresolved problems in this paper as well as the future research were pointed out.In conclusion, an intercrossing way of meteorology with water resources and hydrology was adopted in this paper. By introducing the new forecasting methods of meteorological elements, the forecasting accuracy could be improved, the forecasting period could be extended, the ability of flood forecast could be enhanced and the flood disaster could be alleviated in our country, furthermore, the social economic sustainable development could be realized.
