With the successful launch and deployment of IK0N0S-2 satellite by Space Imaging in September 1999,the photogrammetry and remote sensing communities entered the era of commercial high-resolution expanding the contribution for civil and national promoted imagery resolution expanding the contribution for civil and national defence, several US companies scheduled launches high resolution imaging satellite, such as QuickBird, Orbview etc.In this paper stereo geopositioning from Ikonos stereo images are described in detail, and the transform model are analyzed in particular .The RFM is selected as the main research object. the precision is evaluated and compared with Ikonos stereo data and ground control points. At last a method is advanced in order to reduce system error. My main research results are listed below: Analyze the imaging mechanism of Ikonos stereo images Analyses the currently main the stereo geopositioning models, emphasis the Rational Function Model Demonstrate the accuracy of stereo geopositioning with different quantity and distributing of ground control point A method of additory systemic parameters is advanced in order to reduce system errors and is experienced with test data.In this paper the precision of Ikonos stereo images are tested and evaluated objectively . The feasibility and reliability of stereo geopositioning with Ikonos stereo images are verified. The results of experiment show that the methodology adopted in this paper is correct, and prove that stereo geopositioning from Ikonos stereo images is practical.
