The wall-attached buoyant jet in coflow is studied by the means of numerical simulation and experiment. The main works are shown as follows:1. A mathematical model is established to simulate the jet. The standard k-ε model is employed for turbulent closure of the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The general controlling-equations are discretized using the finite volume method. The pressure term is corrected and coupled with the velocity term using the SIMPLE algorithm based on the collocated grid technique. The computation results show that the flow and mixing of the jet are confined by the wall, thus the velocity distributions are affected. The main body of the jet inclines upwards. The velocity on axis line accords with the exponential distribution. The distributions of velocity on sections obey the Gaussian distribution approximation.2. The cross sections of longitudinal axis are investigated by PIV technique and the distributions of the velocity are compared with the computation results. The comparison and analysis show the reasons that lead to the difference between the experiment and computation results and verify the accuracy of the mathematical model.
