It spends 40 percent to 45 percent of the total time of structural analysis to establish the finite elememt model and input the dates(pre_process),50 percent to 55 percent to asses the results(post_process),only 5 percent to computation. It is usually done to analyse and asses different schemes for obtaining the best scheme in designing new products. However, Trying again usually be used in the finite element software, which causes the problems of spending much time on the pre_processing and post_processing, Making a mistake easily, requiring the user to have the software at his fingers tips. The model and structure of serialization and standardization of products such as mould, clamp, hydraulic cylinder and valve, etc.are usually changeless, their gemetrical scales are only changeable. For these products, rapid modeling can be done by using parametrical modeling to substitute the gemetrical scales.Based on the advantage of parametrical modeling, It can be found that there is the function of parametrical modeling in many CAD softwares.Steping beam mechanism used in blast furnace is a important device, its structures are usually changeless but the gemetrical scales are changed with the requirement of different factories. The mechanical analysis must be done to ensure the mechanism safe for each mechanism because it sustains heavy loads. So it is actual meaning to develop the parametrical finite element software for this mechanism.Msc patran provides a PCL language which can be used to develop parametrical finite element saftware to realize the automatic analysis of structures and has favourable interface. In this paper the parametrical finite element software of steping beam mechanism used in blast furnace was developed, which has the functions of automatically meodeling, adding constraints and loading, automatically showing the results by inputing the changeable parameters.
