This paper introduces the current situation of land subsidence study at home andabroad , and made detailed discussions of the origin and harmfulness of landsubsidence in the coastal area. It points out that the main cause of land subsidence isthe over extraction of groundwater. A model is set up using grey theory, pluralisticregression, and transmission function on the basis of the available work results inTanggu, Hangu and Dagang to predict and analyze land subsidence tendency in aboveareas. The grey model GM(1,4) and pluralistic regression model consider not only theeffection of over extraction of groundwater on land subsidence, but also the effect ofthe consolidation characteristics of the soil itself and precipitation. Forcountermeasure, the paper puts forward the measures to tap new resources andeconomize on available resources, to adjust the overall arrangement and strengthenadministration of groundwater extraction, and to use deep fresh water as there-injection water source for oil fields. The main achievement of this paper is the establishment of the land subsidencemodel for the New Coastal District. This model was set up on the basis of the analysisof the dominant causes of land subsidence in the New Coastal District. The model isof great significance to the coastal area where the conflict between resourcesdevelopment and environment damages. It provides a scientific basis for calamityprevention and deduction, and working out of the countermeasures against landsubsidence in the coastal area. On the other hand, it provides technical support fordeveloping mineral resources reasonably and protect the living environment forpeople. The model also serves as reference for the study of forecast of land subsidenceand promoting sustainable development of social economy in the coastal district.
