There are many fluid-shell coupled problems in practical engineering,whichare of great applied value. Many Chinese and Foreign scholars have done a lot ofresearches,but the contents about rectangular elastic shell-liquid coupled systemare seldom. In this paper,particular experiment and theory study are takensurrounding the large-amplitude and low-frequency gravity waves in rectangularelastic fluid-shell coupled system.1. The significance,primary method and achievements in some majorresearch topics are discussed in detail. The actuality about fluid-shell coupledproblems is introduced.2. Based on the boundary conditions of the system, the velocity potential ofthe fluid is obtained and a set of nonlinear equations are constructed with the useof hydromechanics and elasticity.3. The numerical computation and analytics are carried out respectively bythe Runge-Kutta method and multi-scale method, the time history curves andamplitude-frequency curves of water and shell are obtained, which present thedynamic character. It explained the mechanism of high frequency power bringingthe low-frequency and large-amplitude gravity wave.4. The four models ,parameters and the frequency of fluid are obtained andthe relation between fluid depth and model frequency is studied through the modelanalysis experiment to the rectangular elastic fluid-shell coupled system. Thecalculation results with Ansys are consistent with the experimental one.5. The gravity waves in a rectangular elastic fluid-shell coupled system areresearched in detail, and some shapes under different frequency and differentpower are observed, and the effect of viscid to system is researched. All of theseare of certain directive signification in resolving the problem in practice object.6. Using digital image processing technique,the distorted image is collectedaccording to the test object. Two different gravity wave shapes are tested with FTPmethod. All the experimental results fit well with the theoretical results. Itpreserves a new method to measure the fluid 3-D deform.In conclusion, the modeling and analysis to the rectangular elastic fluid-shellcoupled system explain the engendering mechanism of the gravity waves in theoryand the experiments verify the reliability. All of these will offer reference to thelatter study.
