The study and the utility of tide have a long-term history. The traditional observation methods for tide set up tidal gauges along coast and islands, or established some pressure recorders in the bottom of deep-ocean. However, the limited data points gained from this directly observation were obviously far from the requirement of further research on the fine structure of tidal fields. Since 1970's, the newly developed satellite altimetry, which can measure the sea surface height fluctuations, supplies us best sea level observation data. Satellite altimetry greatly improves tidal research. Based on tidal static theories, this paper deduces the harmonic method model and response method model for tidal signals' expression. This paper also discusses the along track analysis and crossover analysis, for tidal signals' extraction from satellite altimetry datum. This paper proposes and makes use of gradient law of the model to obtain tide high method of array, too. Performing the harmonic tidal analyses with 344 cycles of T/P satellite data from 1992 to 2002, we get the 12 major sub-tides in China Sea. According to the error assessments, we can conclude this result is reliable.
