The characteristics of fish swimming are fast, efficient, flexible and quiet. So it's important to utilize fish swimming mode on the underwater vehicle instead of traditional screw propeller and rudder. Thus, Hydrodynamics analysis of bionic submersible propulsion system has been given a close attention for a long time.In this thesis, thrust characteristics of oscillating tuna-tail are analyzed by the FLUENT (CFD code) which is secondly developed based on Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations. Meanwhile, the method of dynamic mesh and post-processing system are also full used. Firstly, Lift characteristics of hydrofoil are analyzed in a 2D unbounded fluid; secondly, the effects of Reynolds, oscillating amplitude and frequency, and the phase difference between heaving and pitching are investigated. At last, the unsteady hydrodynamics characteristics of 3D oscillating tuna-tail are calculation numerically.Through the research in this thesis, we give a conclusion that the CFD software related RNS solver is feasible to the hydrodynamic analysis of oscillating-wing propulsion. More detailed research should be done on the special swim mechanism of fish.
