With the rapid development of ultra-short-pulse, high-intensity laser systems and the use of clustered gas media in interaction physics, clusters are once again a hot topic. The cluster characteristic is one of the most important factors of the interaction process. We have produced the Argon cluster with the room temperature, and the deuterium cluster with low temperature respectively. The method of Rayleigh scattering was employed to measure the average size of the cluster, and investigate the varying of cluster size with time, and analyze the factors affecting the formation of cluster such as background pressure, source temperature and nozzle. Additionally, the experiment of the interaction of cluster and laser has been introduction simply for preparing for the further study. The content of the thesis could be concluded as the following: 1. We set up the systems of producing the room temperature cluster and the low temperature. And we adopted the supersonic jet to produce the argon cluster and the deuterium cluster whose average size were about 3.36nm and 3.15nm respectively. 2. The Rayleigh scattering experiment that operated synchronously with the producing system, was completed. 3. After measuring the cluster sizes in different background pressure, we obtained the exponential relation of the two ones which was consist with the Hagena's empirical formula. 4. Comparing the sizes of two kinds clusters produced by two nozzles, we found that the nozzle with larger diameter and smaller expansion angle was available for big cluster. 5. Varying the delay time between the diagnostic laser and the vale, we could describe the picture of cluster growing and decaying. In the experiment, the so-call two-plateau structure was observed. Maybe this characterization structure was its, but induced by second-bound of vale. But if laser interact the clusters in the second plateau whose size and intensity were smaller, the result would not be good as we expected. So the observation will help the interaction experiment a lot. The five list above are about the characterization of cluster, in order to find the best condition and the best time for cluster growing and prepare for the interaction experiment. 6. The interaction of ultra-short-pulse, high-intensity laser and deuterium cluster has been investigated. The interaction of laser in 30fs, 20TW and deuterium cluster induced the Column explosion and produced high-energy ions whose average energy were about 20keV above the requirement of fusion.
