In this paper, calculation method of finite element in DYNA2D and reaction flow is presented. We choose JTF model with excitation process to model process of shock to detonation on the basis of analysis about reaction rate model in common use at present.According to stress histories recorded from Lagrangian gauges in a plane shock initiation experiment and calculation result with other reaction rate models, the TANG model can't model process of shock to detonation of PBX-9404 at low pressure. We find that the threshold function is unreasonable. So we improve it. In order to reduce the parameters in TANG model, we modify the characteristic time of energy transferring from hotspot to the other of TANG model. The modified TANG model has been implemented in two-dimensional program DANA2D and model one-dimensional and two-dimensional behavior of shock to detonation. It can be found that the appliable range of modified JTF model is markedly extended. And it can forecast the distance to detonation and stress histories of PBX-9404, as well as the threshold velocity and SDT process of different head geometry projectile impacting. At finally, we modeled the detonation wave detouring.
