Ocean color remote sensing is going through a quiet revolution; many algorithms have emerged at the same time. In this paper Bio-Optical Algorithms on concentrations of oceanic pigments such as chlorophyll, total suspended matter and yellow substance, have been introduce in detail, including Analytical Algorithm, Semi-Analytical Algorithm, Analytical Basis of Band-Ratio Models, SeaWiFS Empirical Algorithm Based on Blue to Green Ratio, MODIS Empirical Algorithm Based on Blue to Green Ratio, CZCS Empirical Algorithm Based on Blue to Green Ratio, Algebraic Algorithm, Nonlinear Optimization Algorithm, Principal Component Analysis Algorithm, Artificial Neural Network Algorithm and Empirical Algorithm. The author studies the basic principium, formula and meaning of symbol of each algorithm, analyzes the merits and limitations furthermore.
