Lathyrus quinquenervius is clonal plant with two pathes to be bred, one is sexual by seed and the other is asexual by rhizome. It's feasible to research the plant growth rule and reproduction theory on L. quinquenervius. So L. quinquenervius is be chosen to study the growth rule , rhizome clonal traits and breeding system. The results are accumulation to the materials of growth and reproduction rule for plants biology and they can push the application of L. quinquenervius in yield. The thesis is consists of three parts. Firstly , the comparison research is about growth rule above ground and biomass of L. quinquenervius between different habits and densities in Songnen Grassland. The results show that: the plants in field have higher plant height, longer ramification length, more ramification numbers and bigger biomass than those in wild. There is on evident different between densities in wild. The difference is significance between densities in field. Plants, especially in population of two years, have bigger bodies in low and middle densities than that in high densities in field. It's the effect of density dependence. The biomass' vertically allocation tendency along major stem shows polynomial curve in wild while the tendency is index curve in field. The sex reproduction allocation changed with habits and densities. Plants have higher sexual reproduction allocation in rich habit and sparse population. Secondly, the measurements of the rhizome parameters indicate the clonal characters of L. quinquenervius below ground in different habits and densities. The conclusions show that: there are significance differences between densities about rhizome length, rhizome biomass, rhizome spacers numbers and rhizome branching angle in wild. The spacers length are similar. There are stable rhizome age structures in all mosic with different densities except the sparsest population with higher biomass allocation in one year rhizome than that in two years old rhizome. The clonal growth pattern are various in different densities. It's phalanx in denseness population while it's guerilla in sparse population. Similarly, the rhizome length, biomass, spacer numbers and branching angle are different obviously and rhizome spacer length is alike between densities in field. The rhizome age structure of length and biomass are all growing in all densities except the rhizome length being reduction in population with a high density. The clonal growth pattern is guerilla relatively to the wild plant. They show a plastic character in L. quinquenervius clonal growth. At last, The experiment is the observation of floral dynamic, and the test of breeding system by out crossing index(OCI) and pollen-ovule ratio(P/O). The results show that: the period of flowering is about 45 days in which the blossoming occurs in the last 10-day of June. Flowering diurnal dynamic of L. quinquenvervius presents a two-peak trait. The one appears at 8:00~11:00 and the other appears at 14:00~15:00 of one day. A self-pollination breeding system can be reflected by OCI=3, pollinators are required in sometimes; A complex cross bred can be indicated by P/O=2286.21. So the breeding system of L.quinquenervius is mixed with self-pollination and outcrossing. The faultiness of breeding system and pests destroying cause the low seed-set rate.
