Research And Application On Component Based Geographic Information System

Component based geographic information system (ComGIS) is a new generation GIS which fit the tide of componentlization. The component object model (COM) of Mircosoft has make great compact on the software engineering and transformed the traditional software development pattern. Application of COM on the GIS software development can overcome many problems in the traditional software development and has incomparable advantages.After introducing the basic theory of GIS and COM, this paper uses the modeling method based on UML to build the GIS model and specially to build database model. There are two key problems in the database modeling processes, which are, building relationship for spacial vector data and changing from object model to relation model. The modeling method in this paper can resolve these two problems well and build a complete system model and structure diagram of spacial classes. The popular method of component based software development (CBD) is applied on GIS in this paper. According to the peculiarity of component software development in requirement analysis and field analysis and systm integration, a new component based GIS software development model is presented. Finally, with these theory results, a GIS software develop process is formulated exhausively. This system contains vector drawing sub-system and database sub-system. The development method and process of a component of showing map is presented.
