A detailed description on the basic principle of maximum entropy analysis method is introduced, and the power spectra of sea-current data observed from 28 N to 42 N on east coast of the United States are analyzed by using maximum entropy method. This study found the periodic oscillation in the time-sequence data, revealed the basic regulation and character of the tide currents and non-tide current waves in the area. The analysis results show that semi-diurnal tide waves are predominant at the sea near east coast of the United States, low-frequency oscillation is very obvious too, and their energy is larger than diurnal tide waves.
