In this paper, some analyses about injuries, deaths and losses at the time of earthquake in recent ten years are made. It is suggested that evolution of surface rupture caused by earthquake fault is necessary. Types of surface rupture caused by earthquake fault are introduced. A complete suit of analytical expression of displacement and strain field is packed up for the rectangular strike-slip and dip-slip shear fault with an arbitrary dip angle in a semi-infinite medium. The distribution feature of displacement field is analytzed for strike-slip and dip-slip shear fault. An accessorial coordinate and analytical expression of strain field under it are introduced. Haihe fault is made of calculated model. Using programs compiled for calculating strain field, we get distribution feature of surface strain and deep strain caused by all kinds of fault. How stain field vary with the motion mode, dip angle and buried depth of fault is analyzed and discussed. At last, surface rupture of Haihe fault is evaluated.
