Low intensity electromagnetic pulses (LTEMP) were used to study the cell's electroporation. The changes of cell's permeability, electrotransfection, electrofusion and the change of cell shape were studied. From the experiments of the cell's permeability, we found that after treating with LTEMP ,some celluar proteins could go out of red hlood cells, fluorescent antibodies could go into cells, the Trypan blue dyes could enter the pig sperms, the frequency was 0.35%(irradiating 20 minutes) and 0.54%(irradiating 60 minutes). We also found that chicken's micro-chromosome could enter rabbit red blood cells after radiation, the frequency was 1.9%(irradialing 20 minutes) and 1.2%(irradiating 40 minutes). We observed that LTEMP could induce cells to fuse, the frequency was 0.28% in the treating 40 minutes group, and in the treating 80 minutes group was 0.54%. After using LTEMP to treat pig lymphocytes with 20% PEG, we got 1.84% cell fusion frequency and premature condensation chromosomes (PCC) whose frequency was 0.17%.We observed round ,smooth holes with a diameter of 0.5-1.0μm in the rabbit red blood cell membranes by scanning electron microscope(SEM). After treating pig's sperms with LTEMP, we only found three groups had obvious holes in the pig's sperm membranes. All the holes were found in the head of sperms, and the shape of holes was irregular, witli a diameter of 0.2-0.7μ m.
