Echinodermata is one of the most important components of the marine invertebrate animals, and just inferior to the Urochordata. Echinoidea is one of the important components of Echinodermata.Thirty-four sea urchins were recorded in this paper, fifteen of them are recorded for the first time in China. All the samples were collected from Yellow Sea and the East China Sea by the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1958 to 1982, which deposited in the marine biology museum, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The thirty-four species of the sea urchins belong to 7 order, 17 families and 28 genera. The following is the name list, those with an asterisk are the species recorded for the first time in China. AgassizAmong the species reported, the following species call for notes or simple descriptions.Stylocidaris ryukyuensis Shigei: Medium-size with chocolate-colored scrobicular spines. Ambulacra with two regular vertical series of tubercles in the interporiferous zone, and with semilunar elevations of the wall in the pore zone. Interambulacra with non-crenulate tubercles. The areoles round. Ocular plates all exsert the peristome distinctly smaller than the apical system. Primary spines tapering, with 10 series of thorns or ridges on the shaft.Rhopalocidaris gracilis (Ddderlein): Test small, usually high. Ambulacra with a regular vertical series of marginal tubercles. The pore-zones sunken. Interambulacra primary tubercles non-crenulate, the areoles deep. Apical system moderate in size, slightly raised towards the apex. Peristome nearly as large as apical system. Primary spines long and slender, with some thorns and long hairs in the basal part. Large globiferous pedicellariae are numerous.Phormosoma bursarium (A.Agassiz): Test soft and fragile, low, medium to rather small in size. The width of ambulacra about half that of interambulacra; pore-pairs arranged in a regular longitudinal series. Apical plates divided into small pieces of plates, genital pores not large. Primary spines of oral side club-shaped. Tridentate pedicellariae occur in two forms, one with short, broad valves, the other with elongate, slender valves.Coelopleurus maculatus A. Agassiz & H. L. Clark: Medium to rather small, low-hemispherical. Ambulacra as broad as interambulacra. Primary tubercles and their areoles very larg...
