Area is the basic unit of GIS, and the analyzing of area is a very important part of analyzing in GIS. But this kind of entity may insurmountably have some uncertainties when it is expressed abstractly to the spatial object of GIS, and these uncertainties are the uncertain factors including error, inaccuracy, illegibility and so on. However, it is necessary to research the geographic information uncertainty, because the precision of analysis and expression in GIS lies on this uncertainty in a way. Therefore, the research of geographic information uncertainty is an important research field of GIS's basal theory.In the real world, the areas approximately have two kinds: the areas with specific boundaries and the areas with ambiguous boundaries.For the areas with specific boundaries, their uncertainties mainly come from the errors of locating boundaries, and we can educe uncertainty model based on their error-models. However, there are also large numbers of fuzzy areas without specific boundaries in the real world. These areas' boundaries are normally difficult to locate, and their uncertainties are difficult to control because their uncertainties come from many facets. But these areas are very important in the analyzing of GIS, so it is essential to research the uncertainties of fuzzy areas and make the sound models.Therefore, this thesis mainly researches that how to set up the uncertainty model of fuzzy area and how to analyze the topological relation about fuzzy areas, based on the vector GIS and using some knowledge including fuzzy mathematics and measure adjustment and so on. This thesis first puts forward the sound mathematic model and spatial expression, and then sets up the position uncertainty model of fuzzy area using the method of setting up the position uncertainty model of specific area. Moreover, this thesis researches how to set up the attribute uncertainty model of fuzzy area. After setting up the position and attribute uncertainty model of fuzzy area, this thesis researches how to analyze the topological relation about fuzzy area. Finally, this thesis puts forward the practical example of setting up the position and attribute uncertainty model of fuzzy area.
