In this paper we simulate with the use of Giss ocean-atmosphere model adopting land-ocean distribution of the present and 14maB.P. as boundary condition respectively ,assess its ability of climate simulation and analyze the impact of the difference in land-ocean distribution on the atmosphere and ocean .The results show that (1) the simulated climatology of atmosphere over Asian region and ocean is close to the observation facts, which denotes that model can be used for the study of climate change .Also ,this model has some defects needed to be improved. But due to its coarse resolution and low requirement on computer resource, it is easy to run on the middle or small scale computer. (2)ln winter of the Northern Hemisphere, because of the difference in the land-ocean distribution ,the temperature nowadays is lower than that of 14maB.P. simulated in the upper layer but higher in the middle layer(about 200-1500m).In deep ocean the discrepancy of temperature seems hardly to be obvious . The most obvious sea temperature difference appears between 500m and 600m and the variable amplitude in Southern Hemisphere is larger than that in Northern Hemisphere. The closure of Indonesia passage causes the modern simulated sea temperature warmer than that of 14maB.P. in middle layer. But only for the closure of Indonesia passage, warm pool can be formed under 150m with the center between 300m and 600m or so while in upper layer the modern sea temperature is still colder, so seen from the simulation, only the open of Indonesia passage can not form the warm pool like the present. The change in summer is similar to that in winter but for the strength and scope. (3)whether in summer or in winter in the district where topography is changed ,compared to the modern simulation the simulated base climatology changes such as surface temperature ,sea level pressure precipitation and so on which denotes the difference in land-ocean distribution can have effect on the climatology.
