The antifreeze proteins have been found in many organisms, such as fishes, plants and insects and the antifreeze proteins in fishes are studied in detail. Theantifreeze proteins have many applications in increasing the quantity and quality ofcrop, improving the seedling liviability, prolonging the growth-season of crop andextending the planting-range, as well as decreasing the stored temperature of crop toprolong the stored time. Moreover, there are many important applications in medicine, foodstuff science and industry.ln our experiment, a lot of regulator sequences inc1uding the 35S promoter withdouble enhancer e1ements and the terminator nos, the fl sequence and Kozak sequencefor improving the genetic statement in the level of translation, were appended on thetwo s ides of the artifically PseudOPleuronectes americanus antifreeze protei n gene bya series of process, and the products were linked into pBIl21. l to get the expressionvector for the antifreeze protein gene followed by importing it into the caluus ofmaize by gene-gun. At last, we detected the expression of gus gene linked toantifreeze protein gene. The result indicates that gus gene is expressed strongly andjnstantaneous]y in ca]uus of maize.
