Rockburst is a worldwide serious natural disaster encountered in coal mining and rock engineering. After the 90s, not only the earthquake magnitude but also the frequency of rockburst is increasing dramatically. What causes this problem? There is almost no one who has studied this phenomena before. Applying the methods, which exploit in earthquake study, to study the relativity of rockburst and earthquake, there must be some theoretical value and applied value.The initial mechanism and causes of rockburst is studied, and the criterion of coal body is given in this paper. The initiation of coal body rockburst is the matrix D'r to be negative. The rockburst of work face is studied and the distribution of stress is obtained through analyzed analysis. The mechanism and criterion of fault rockburst is probed and discussed, and the initiation of fault rockburst is the matrix Dcr to be negative also. By applying empirical formula and data analysis, the relation between energy and -earthquake magnitude is studied and estimated. The earthquake magnitude of coal body, work face and fault rockburst are obtained. The relation of earthquake magnitude and rockburst, earth tide and rockburst and the space-time distribution of rockburst are all studied through using the methods which is applied widely on earthquake. The relativity of earthquake and rockburst is obtaied and verified. So exploiting the relativity of the two. we can forecast find predict the outburst of earthquake and rockburst.
