In this paper, photoelastic methods to determine the orders of double stress singularities and double stress intensity factors have been proposed, which are based on photoelastic isochromatic patterns. With the finite element program æ‚lgor? the isochromatic fringe patterns of 600 symmetry notch and 450 skew-symmetry notch are simulated, the orders of stress singularities and stress intensity factors of the two models are calculated. In order to determine the fringe order for random point, the interpoalting function of fringe order to the distance from the notch tip has been extracted. With the isochromatic fringe patterns obtained from photoelastic experiment, the orders of stress singularities and stress intensity factors are calculated for 600 model and 450 model in the end of the paper. The results demonstrated that the method using simulated isochromatic fringe patterns to replace the isochromatic fringe patterns obtained from photoelastic experiment is feasible and the methods to determine stress singularity orders and stress intensity factors are correct.
