In this paper, the research history of Tulipa and the research condition of Tulipa in our country are briefly summarized. Based on the present research condition of Tulipa from Xinjiang, the eleven species and different populations of seldom species are studied on phenology and resources evaluation,the eight species on macrosporgenesis and famale gametophyte and T.schrenkii with breeding value on pollination biology .The results in this report are as follows: 1.Eleven species of Tulipa from Xinjiang are of characters of spourting early, growing period shortly in one year, and resisting cold strongly and so on. Phenology is different among the Sect. Orithyia, Sect. Leiostemones and Sect. Eriostemones, phenology of species in one section is similiar with each other,but in Sect. Leiostemones phenology among species, even the different populations is different. According to phenology, Sect. Eriostemones is evolutive and Sect. Leiostemones is primitive relatively. 2.There are five types of embryo sac in eight species from Xinjiang, such as Eriostemones type, Fritillaria type, Adoxa type, Drusa type and T. tetraphylla type.In addition to T. dasystemon and T. heterophylla,the development of embryo sac.of other six species is firstly reported and in T. heterophylla and T. heteropetala there are more than one types of embryo sac . According to comparative embryology, we discuss the types of the embryo sac. of Tulipa and their taxonomic significance. 3. T.schrenkii has some set seed rate by autogamy, but it is predominantly outcrossing and is entomophilous.The main pollinator is Apis mellifera L,they pollinate by the way of sternotribic and the average visitation rate of them is 4.2 per 15min per flower. 4.According to the observation for gardening characters of the eleven species and different populations of a few species, we conclude that all of them have their respective feature,and they can be used to gene material for hybridity breeding in the future.
