Dali Man Who lived in Middle Pleistocene is of great imPortance in theevolvement of paleo-antbropology in China. So it is an important academic programto stUdy the environment when Dali Man lived. The section of Middle Pleistocene atDali Man Site was researched synthetically by means of stratigraPhy, geomorphology, paleontology, sedimentary environments and facies etc. The environmenialinformation preserved in this section was selected and analyzed to get the generalcondition of paleo-environmellt of Middle Pleistocene in the area of lower reaches ofLuohe hiver in Shaanxi Province, China. The evolvement sequence of some factors ofpaleo-environment When Dali Man' lived was discussed by means of studying on the stratigraPhy and facies on thissection, Which offer a macroscopic environmental background to the research on theliving environment of Dali Man. The interbed of red clay and sand layers wascorrelated to L4 in loess-paleosol sequence. The evolvement sequence of Luohe River was gained by the methods ofdifferentiating paleosol-sequence and the principle that the same terrace formed atthe same time in one area. The research on the straiigraPhy covered on the terraceslead to the following conclusions: 1) There is some relationship between the fOrmingof terraces and the global cooldown evellts, According to the relevant data given byother researchers, this relationship possibly has a close connection to the uPlifting ofQingzang Plateau. 2) A synthetical model on the forming of terraces in the area ofmiddle reaches of Yellow River was concludedt the uPlifting of the Qingzang Plateauenhances the global cooldown, and both the uPlifting of the Qingzang Plateau andthe global cooldown had positive feedback on the reducing of the base level oferoslon. The fOssil bivalves and the micro-mammalian fossil in association with DaliMan Skull were described for the first time. LamProtula was in the majority in thefossil bivalves. Many LamProtula are the living taxa that live in the area of middleand lower reaches of Changiiang River today but were rarely reported in North China, which indicates that the climate when Dali Man lived was warm and wet and just likethat of middle and lower reaches of Changiiang River today. It was a monsoonclimate controlled by summer monsoon When Dali Man lived and it can be correlatedto the climate When paleosol was formed. Micro-manunalian fOssil can be cortelatedto that of Loc. 1 at ZKD.
