In this paper, we analyzed the chemical composition of saline-alkaline soil of Chgannoor and discussed the response of Suaeda salsa and Suaeda glauca's growth to the soil, intended to provide foundation for controlling arid and semi-arid area. The main research outcomes were as follows.1. By analyzing three kinds of soil of Chagannoor dry lake found out that soil sample 1 belongs to Sandy clay loam, its clay was 16.16%, the content of soluble salt was 5.86g·kg-1, pH was 10.38; soil sample 2 belongs to loamy clay, its clay was 25.38%, soluble salt was 6.39 g·kg-1 pH was 9.36; soil sample 3 belongs to clay, its clay was 46.83%, soluble salt was 12.76g·kg-1, pH was 10.61.2. We took the mixed-salt solution to simulate the salt-alkali stress found out that the restrain of low salt content solution (40mmol·L-~80mmol·L-1) to salsa is inconspicuous, even to promote embryonic's growth. With the increase of salt consistence the germination rate, germination index and seed vigor of two kinds of salsa tend to decrease. However, different salinity had different effects. The inhibitory effect of single-salt is greater than mixed -salt. The critical value and limit value of Suaeda salsa in NaCl-Na2SO4-CaCl2 separately were 0.27 and 0.71, higher than that in NaCl were 0.23 and 0.61; The critical value and ultimate value of Suaeda glauca in NaCl-Na2SO4-CaCl2, respectively, were 0.09 and 0.48, uniformity higher than that in NaCl were 0.06 and 0.37.3. Under natural condition, the amylase activity of Salsa during seed germination showed obvious "S" curve. Treated by 80mmol·L-300mmol·L-1NaCl solution, amylase activity of Suaeda salsa also showed "S" curve, moreover, with the increase of concentration of the salt, the change of amylase activity was more and more inconspicuous. During the germination the content of fatty acid trends to increase first and then decrease. In the same salt stress condition, the content of fatty acid in Suaeda glauca is less than in Suaeda salsa, high salt content inhibited the fat decomposition, illuminated that the Salt tolerance of Suaeda salsa is better than Suaeda glauca.4. The field experiment in Chagannoor indicated that Growth Potential of Suaeda salsa was better than Suaeda glauca. In the three kinds of testing soil, the germination rate, survival rate, flowering rate and fruiting rate of Suaeda salsa was significantly higher than Suaeda glauca's (P<0.01). In the saline-alkaline soil, growth tendency of Suaeda salsa showed obvious "S" curve, even in the soil sample 3 which had the most salinization it can still grow to height of 36cm. However Suaeda glauca only grew to the height of 12cm, both had significant differences (P<0.01)5. The field physiological study showed that in the three testing soil, the succulent degree of Suaeda salsa grew up with the increase of the degree of salinization, moreover the succulent degree of Suaeda glauca decreased following the increased of salt degree. The photosynthetic rate showed bimodal curve, have "midday depression" phenomenon, the pinnacle showed at 12:00h and 14:00h, low point showed at 13:00h. The Variation of stomata aperture rate and transpiration rate showed single-peak type. The pinnacle showed during 11h~12h. In the three kinds of saline-alkaline soil the photosynthetic rate of Suaeda salsa is significantly higher than Suaeda glauca; from seeding period to the growing period, the NR activity of Salsa increased first and then decreased gradually. The activity of NR was more sensitive to pH of soil, although the soluble salt content of soil sample 2 was higher than soil sample 1, the pH value was low throughout the growth time, and the NR activity of two kinds of Salsa in soil sample 2 was higher than other soil samples. Relative conductivity measurement shows that Salsa was most sensitive to the stress of saline-alkaline soil in seedling and easy to be hurt by saline-alkaline soil. Under the same stress, Suaeda salsa was less hurt than Suaeda glauca. In summary, Salsa was most sensitive in seeding. Compared to Suaeda glauca, the salt resistance of Suaeda salsa was stronger, therefore Suaeda salsa was more suitable for saline-alkaline soil to grow.
