It has been long known that chroma parameter is of great significance to reflex the paleo-environment evolution. In this paper, a case study based on Colorimetry with a high resolution is carried out in Lingtai section, at the heart of Chinese Loess Plateau. At first, by analyzing the characteristic and trend of all the chroma parameters, we found that hue angle, which is a parameter in the L*C*h* system, can be effectively used as a proxy to interpret the characteristic of some sediment, and has a good correlation with the magnetic susceptibility. Therefore, it is able to indicate that the pedogenesis and the evolution of East Asia Summer Monsoon, to a certain degree, lies in the composition and amount of minerals related to the Fe element. Furthermore, it is noticed that the correlation between the benthic d18O records and hue angle is generally existed except for the interval of 3.4-4.6Ma. In the interval of 3.4-4.6Ma, a series of random events, such as the closure of Panama Seaway, the uplift of Tibetan Plateau, the aridity of the Tarim Basin and the expansion of the Arctic ice cap, are very likely to undermine the correlation.
