The diversity, complexity and the different expression of spatial data sources, which determines that spatial data need a variety of data processing to make the data normative and achieve the requirements of application. Spatial data processing is the transformation methods, procedures and tools between the original data to the target data, which involves the studying of theory, methods, algorithms and practice, so spatial data processing is the important research fields in geographical information system.Mathematical Morphology is an important method for image processing and studying, in which a variety of transformations or operations should meet constraints basic- principles in quantitative image analysis, dilation and erosion are two basic operations in Mathematical Morphology. Based on the summarize of spatial data processing, it is proposed for morphological transform properties of vector data the vector morphological model on mathematical morphology, after analyzing the corresponding processing methods in building DLG, then the model satisfies the definition of mathematical morphology and is proved to be equivalent to the principles of set theory. Mathematical Morphology mainly describes morphological transform feature in graphics, so the model is mainly for morphological transform of vector graph and make the original vector graph change to the target graph, such as translations and thinning. From the model, the morphological transform model of medial axis is given, and a compaction algorithm is carried out in TopoMap, the extracting of the construction lines of rivers and roads and interpolation of contours reach to the effect anticipative through the experiment about DLG and map data, the method is applied to production.In this paper, the vector morphological model can abstractly express morphological transform in vector graph; it is rigorous in theory, but concise in expression. The model can quantitatively describe and analyze the characteristics of geometric graphics, so it is applicable to more general applications. Based on the model, extracting of medial axis has been performed, which proves that the model is feasible in reality and practical in production. After all, the model is a new model and method of morphological transform in vector graph, which make the spatial data processing more and more diverse.
