Stone relics account for the tremendous proportion in various cultural relic in our country, which is precious cultural heritage, and it usually existed different degree of complicated diseases. The condition of stone relics is not optimistic, and it is in urgent need of comprehensive detection and targeted repairing. In this paper, we shall first briefly introduce the various disease types of rocky cultural relics. Fracture and weathering are the quite common diseases. Weathering and Fracture are always linked with other diseases, which are the cause of other diseases or by other diseases. So, the detection of these kinds of diseases is regarded as study objects.The article focus on discussing the history, development and research status, theoretical basis of the ultrasonic inspection method, and analyzing the physical premise of rocky relics diseases, the ultrasonic method basic principle and ultrasonic detection methods of work, systematically.The requirements and conditions of ultrasonic method in the actual detecting are relatively high. To get accurate data and the clearly phase of ultrasonic wave profile, we carried out a series of prepare test using ultrasonic method, including the test of stability and coupling agent effect about ultrasonic instrument, model performance, the selection of testing parameters and waveform identification test analysis. In this way we get reasonable parameter setting and testing experience, which can be the reference of laboratory test and field survey.Simulation experiment studying the standard and uniform model using ultrasonic method can be regarded as the basis of work in field. To study the characteristics of the crack disease and the weathering disease can be the reference of survey in field. The testings of detect disease in ultrasonic method have been conducted in this paper, which respectively are the testing of detection fissure depth and inspection fracture grouting effect, caving ontology sample weathering degree, simulation of aging samples weathering intensity, simulation of aging slice samples weathering intensity. Based on theoretical calculation, testings and other methods of detecting, ultrasonic method finally was verified well and feasibility application effect in detecting the crack disease and weathering disease.According to the reasonable parameter settings selected through preliminary experiments, testing of detecting fissure depth and the effect of joint grouting, and the experience of detecting weathering disease, to provide a technical basis for survey in field, this paper designed detection scheme in detail.
