With the development of the mine industry, the amount of the tailings which are very important in mine industry become bigger and bigger in the world, and this poses a big threat to the environment and health of the local residents. Recent years, a calculation of the accident happened in the tailings, caused disaster damage for people's life and property.3S technologies have more advantages on Tails monitoring that traditional checks do not have. Large area of remote sensing technology could do real-time monitoring of the tailings regardless of the influence under any weather and environment situation, labors and other factors, also duplicate observations in really short time, with quick and safe data storage by GIS technology and GPS positioning function which is very convenient to carry out the work in the field investigation, especially in the rest of the accident-prone season.This paper takes the advantages of 3S technology to achieve a aim with large area on monitoring of tailings. The surface features characteristic of tailings that metal mine tailings is an important symbol to dedicate the general is located in the valley, not far from the mining area, like a reservoir, repository for the gray ash, then usually Local beneficiation model would be taken as placing the larger construction of the mine near to concentrator. Surface features to establish the characteristics of tailings samples as interpretation, interpreting survey area of tailings, and tailings from the number of interpretation, owned minerals, the use of statistical analysis. Analysis show that in children Mountain West Hill survey area there are numerous tailings, iron ore, large quantities, wide geographical distribution where covered by Fushan, Quwo, Xiangfen and Yicheng. Single tailings are smaller, and the utilization level is very low. A huge amount of waste tailings, all iron ore tailings, greatly harm the area.Tailings area will investigate the interpretation, and get the results for the formal format for database storage. Designing attributes data structure, and through spatial analysis methods to input attributes, and then the results would enter the Geo-database.Short time duplicate monitoring of large area of tailings saves more time and efforts. Through the analysis of the tailings of area understanding,established the inquires property database make more convenience on searching, indexing etc.
