The free surface flow problems are commonly found out in the fields of chemical, metallurgy, aviation and aerospace and material science. There is very important engineering value and academic meaning to make scientific researches on free surface flows。The free surface flow problems is a kind of important problems in the field of fluid dynamics and droplet impacting on solid surface is a typical one of these problems. Numerical simulation is one of the primary methods to study and solve this kind of problems. The droplet (water) impacting on flat surface is simulated.Firstly, the specific flow model is established and the control equations named navier-stokes(N-S) equations are set and simplified in the two-dimensional situation. Then, aiming at the difficulty of solving the control equations, the finite volume method and the staggered grids are introduced, which are suitable for solving the N-S equations. The N-S equations are discrete by the staggered grids and the SIMPLE algorithm is selected to solving the equations. In addition, for this free surface flow problem, the model of multiphase VOF free surface treatment method is introduced. And track the movement of free boundaries of the model by VOF method. In order to improve the precision of interface, introduce several interface reconfiguration methods suitable for the model. By being analyzed and compared, Youngs reconfiguration method is selected to reconstruct the interface. Lastly, for the convenience of observation and comparison, the simulation results are given by the form of graphics.By the comparison and analysis of the numerical simulation results and experimental results, this paper can get these conclusions that the numerical simulation can roughly simulate deformation process of the droplet (water) impacting on flat surface, and the simulation results can illustrate the rationality of the model and effectiveness of the algorithm.
