Photosystemâ…¡is the first protein-complex among the photosythetic electronic tranfer chain on the thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts. It is prone to damage under enviromental stress. Recent years, a lot of studies focus on the biogenesis and assembly of photosystem II. LPA1, one of thylakoid membrane proteins, serves as a molecular chaperone with the D1 protein in the ribosome nascent chain. It promotes the interaction between Dl and D2 so that PSâ…¡complexes can be effectively assembly. These studies are great significant to clarify the mechanism for the photosynthesis.lpa1-b and lpa1 are homologous genes. We isolated an Arabidopsis thaliana T-DNA insertion mutant lpa1-b to study the function of LPA1-B. Through bioinformatics analysis, phenotypic observations, the determination of the amount of growth, the detection of PSâ…¡protein levels, PAM curves, light inhibition, Western blot, chlorophyll fluorescence imaging and so on, we found that lpa1-b mutant is similar to wild-type on phenotype observations, photosynthetic efficiency, light sensitivity. And the F2 generation obtained by cross, occurs the phenotypic separation, resulting in a new phenotype. Therefore, these results indicated that LPA1-B may be redundant protein of LPA1, and LPA1-B may be similar physiological functions to the LPA1.
