Research On Order Construction Of Event Space

In the process of human civilization and history,events have important practical significance and full practical value.From the ancient traditional sacrificial activities,religious rituals,seasons orders and carnival celebrations,various types of events with rich content have emerged.With the rapid development of society and the improvement of living standards,people have higher requirements on spiritual needs when their material conditions are met.In recent years,events have gradually become an important way and means for countries,regions and places to meet people’s leisure and spiritual needs.They are an important tool for governments and enterprises to attract tourists and create profits.They have become a huge global industry.In particular,the undertaking of some large-scale festivals and events plays an important role and influence on national development.For example,the successful holding of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games has shown the world a new international image of China’s economic development,political stability and cultural prosperity.At the same time,it has further increased the patriotism of the people,promoted national unity,enhanced national self-confidence and enhanced national pride.It can be said that the undertaking of festival activities not only promotes regional economic development,but also constructs national identity from the social and cultural level.Due to the extensive comprehensive effects brought by events,it not only promoted the rise of ‘festival fever’,but also attracted the attention of many scholars.Through literature review,it is found that the existing research mainly emphasizes the important role of events as the functional carrier of social order,ignoring the orderly characteristics of events themselves.Especially in the context of the national vigorous development of festival activities industry,the rapid development of events has brought a series of safety problems,such as the occurrence of some crowded stampede accidents,which urgently needs to be reflected from the perspective of festival space order and management.Based on this,this paper takes Guangzhou International Lighting festival as an example to explore how the festival spatial order is constructed as a planned event under the challenge of the external environment of the global epidemic.The article reviewed basic concepts of order,order space,event space,and order in event space,the current research process of event space and order,and the order construction.Through literature review,it is found that there are two orders in human society to regulate people’s behavior: one is the order designed and controlled by human beings,that is,a made order man,construction order or exogenous order,corresponding to the phenomenon of ‘other organization’.Another order that can be formed and maintained spontaneously,that is,spontaneous order or an endogenous order,corresponds to the phenomenon of ‘selforganization’.The order construction of festival space is the process of combining made/construction order and spontaneous order.From the perspective of this theory,this article mainly analyzes three core questions:(1)Who are the subjects of the construction order of festival space?(2)How did these subjects construct the spatial order?(3)What is the effect of the construction order of the event space? Focusing on the above three research questions,namely the subjects,contents,and results of the construction order of festival space.This article attempts to resolves these questions combined with stakeholder theory,complex adaptive systems theory,and theories related to the sense of order and behavior.Taking Guangzhou International Lighting festival as an example,this paper makes an indepth case study through field research on the organizers,managers and other stakeholders of the festival.Through in-depth interview,snowball method,archives method,questionnaire survey,participant observation,social network analysis,grounded theory,qualitative and quantitative mixed research and other data collection and analysis methods,we can understand the subject,content and results of its spatial order construction,and the research conclusions are as follows:First,the construction order of the festival space involved multiple stakeholders,among which the key stakeholders and the main stakeholders play an important role in the formation of the spatial order.Based on stakeholder theory,this paper combines social network analysis methods to identify and classify stakeholders in events.The result showed that the main subject of the construction order of the festival space involves different stakeholders,including the festival organization(the core members of the organizing committee and 6 representative units,including the organizers,the undertakes,the co-organizer),festival participants,media,industry associations,volunteers,security personnel,residents,office workers,surrounding hotels and restaurants,etc.,involving a total of 14 different stakeholder units and organizations.Based on identifying the main body of the construction order of the festival space,the social network analysis software UCINET6.560 is used to analyze the various stakeholders.The research results showed that in the construction order of the festival space the core members of the Guangzhou Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau,Guangzhou Lighting Center of Administration Construction,Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau,and Guangzhou Ruifeng Culture & Communication Co.,Ltd are key stakeholders,and the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Bureau,Guangzhou City Construction Investment Group,festival participants,media,security personnel,and volunteers are the main stakeholders,and the industry associations,office workers,residents,and surrounding hotels and restaurants are the secondary stakeholders.It is further explained that as a planned event,the construction of the spatial order of the festival is more formed by the ‘made order’/’constructed order’ of the organizer,and the key stakeholders and the main stakeholders have a greater influence on the construction of the spatial order.The local community residents,office workers,etc.have a marginal influence on the formation of the spatial order in the Lighting Festival.Second,the process and content of the construction order of the festival space is the adjustment of the strategy and operation mode by festival organizers and managements during the interaction with different stakeholders and the environment,and it is a process of constantly learning and summarizing experience to adapt to the complex festival system.To further understand these stakeholders how construct the content of spatial order,this paper introduces the theory of complex adaptive systems,combined with the stimulus-response rules,and specifically analyzes the logic and practical content of the order construction of the festival organizer.Through conducting an in-depth review with the key stakeholders and primary stakeholders,as well as the acquisition of second-hand information from the Internet,we learned that the festival organizers and managers try a variety of methods to improve and enhance the spatial order,and we introduce the four aspects of spatial location and layout,transportation order,information publicity order,environmental order and security order guarantee to elaborate the measures by festival organizers to coordinate the relationship between various stakeholders under the adjustment of the external environment,to promote the orderly operation of the festival and the construction order of the festival space.Thirdly,this paper evaluated the effect of the construction order of festival space from the perspective of festival participants.And it also proved that the different perception dimensions of festival participants can affect their behavioral intentions.Using a mixed qualitative and quantitative research method,the paper developed a spatial order perception dimension scale of the festival participants.This scale included 6 dimensions and 23 detailed items which are spatial layout,traffic order,admission regulations,service management,environmental facilities,and participant order.Among them,the spatial layout includes 5 items which are activity site selection,site size,layout design,guide signs,and site selection convenience.The traffic order includes 3 items that are road conditions,traffic operation,and riding conditions.The admission regulations included reservation measures,admission procedure,queuing time,tour time,and the number of people controlling 5 items.The service management included 4items which are good service,security measures,information release,and people flow guidance.And the environmental facilities included 3 items which are public facilities,network facilities,and a clean environment.And the participant order includes 3 items which are obeying the rules,avoiding conflicts,and maintaining a safe distance.Through the collection of questionnaire data of festival participants,the results show that the perception of spatial order of festival participants can affect their behavioral intentions,especially traffic order and service management had a significant impact on behavioral intentions,and the service management had a more significant impact on the behavior intention.Since the topic selection of this paper is exploratory,the purpose is not to establish a normative standard and obtain a relatively definite answer.The article hopes to explore the construction mode of space order in the operation process of events,make the event space clear and organized according to the set order through the construction of order,and promote the formation of event space order according to the rational design thinking mode of human beings,to promote the orderly and sustainable development of the festival activities.
