| The development of counterfeiting technology makes it difficult for consumers to identify deceptive counterfeits.Therefore,under the effect of price signal,deceptive counterfeiters are likely to utilize asymmetric product quality information to deceive consumers.Considering the effectiveness of blockchain technology in solving information trust issues and reducing investment in blockchain technology applications,some brand-name firms have chosen to adopt the blockchain-technology-supported platform to combat deceptive counterfeits.However,under the influence of the double marginalization effect,internal factors and external factors,many brand-name firms are still hesitant to implement this anti-counterfeiting solution.In view of this,our paper takes the manufacturer as the decision maker,and uses game theory to study the anti-counterfeiting adoption strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under multiple internal and external factors of the firm.The main work and the contributions are summarized as follows:(1)Research on anti-counterfeiting adoption strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under the influence of brand maintenance.Under the scenarios without and with the blockchain-technology-supported platform,a signaling game model and a Stackelberg game model are constructed under incorporating brand maintenance factor,the impact of product quality information asymmetry on the market under the influence of brand maintenance is analyzed,and the anti-counterfeiting adopting strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under the influence of brand maintenance are revealed.The research results indicate that asymmetric product quality information may simultaneously the demand for authentic products,the manufacturers’ profit and consumer surplus;the reduction of brand maintenance costs will deepen the negative impact of product quality information asymmetry on the market,thus incentivizing manufacturers to adopt blockchain-technology-supported platform;Adopting the blockchain-technology-supported platform will improve the demand for authentic products,consumer surplus,and reduce the profit of deceptive counterfeiters,and the reduction in brand maintenance cost will strengthen the adoption effects above;when either brand maintenance costs or the quality of deceptive counterfeits are high,adopting the blockchain-technology-supported platform will increase the demand for deceptive counterfeits.(2)Research on anti-counterfeiting adoption strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under the influence of sales efforts.Under the scenarios without and with the blockchain-technology-supported platform,a signaling game model and a Stackelberg game model are constructed under incorporating sales efforts factor,the impact of product quality information asymmetry on the market under the influence of sales efforts is analyzed,and the anti-counterfeiting adopting strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under the influence of sales efforts are revealed.The research results indicate that although the increase in market demand sensitivity will alleviate the negative impact of product quality information asymmetry on the consumers,it will deepen the negative impact on the manufacturers;the increase in market demand sensitivity will incentivize manufacturers to adopt the blockchain-technology-supported platform;when the penetration level of deceptive counterfeits is greater than a certain threshold,the increase in market demand sensitivity will strengthen the adoption effects of blockchain-technology-supported platform in improving the demand for authentic products,consumer surplus,and reducing the profits of deceptive counterfeiters;when the quality of deceptive counterfeits is high,adopting the blockchain-technology-supported platform will increase the demand for deceptive counterfeits.(3)Research on anti-counterfeiting adoption strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under the influence of counterfeits difference.Under the scenarios without and with the blockchain-technology-supported platform,a signaling game model and a Stackelberg game model are constructed under incorporating counterfeits difference factor,the impact of product quality information asymmetry on the market under the influence of counterfeits difference is analyzed,and the anti-counterfeiting adopting strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under the influence of counterfeits difference are revealed.The research results indicate that the product quality information asymmetry also increases the demand for non-deceptive counterfeits and the profits of non-deceptive counterfeiters;the reduction in quality differences between deceptive counterfeits and non-deceptive counterfeits will incentivize manufacturers to adopt the blockchain-technology-supported platform;adopting the blockchain-technology-supported platform also reduces the demand for non-deceptive counterfeits and the profits of non-deceptive counterfeiters;when the quality of deceptive counterfeits is high,adopting the blockchain-technology-supported platform will increase the demand for deceptive counterfeits.(4)Research on anti-counterfeiting adoption strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under the influence of government enforcement.Under the scenarios without and with the blockchain-technology-supported platform,a signaling game model and a Stackelberg game model are constructed under incorporating government enforcement factor,the impact of product quality information asymmetry on the market under the influence of government enforcement is analyzed,and the anti-counterfeiting adopting strategy and value of blockchain-technology-supported platform under the influence of government enforcement are revealed.The research results indicate that the reduction of government enforcement will deepen the negative impact of product quality information asymmetry on the market,thus incentivizing manufacturers to adopt blockchain-technology-supported platform,and strengthen the adoption effect of blockchain-technology-supported platform in improving the demand for authentic products,consumer surplus,and reducing the profits of deceptive counterfeiters;when the quality of deceptive counterfeits is high,adopting the blockchain-technology-supported platform will increase the demand for deceptive counterfeits. |
